We will have a really nice heating system very soon, in a matter of days actually. At this point the plumber and the electrician seem to be holding each other up. It all looks very confusing to me! But the plumber says it requires NO maintainance. That's good. Heat will come from the floor with no nasty fans blowing dust about. Nice.

THE FANCY-DANCY HEATING SYSTEM
We will have a really nice heating system very soon, in a matter of days actually. At this point the plumber and the electrician seem to be holding each other up. It all looks very confusing to me! Just making SURE you don't leave me BEHIND!
Bob wasn't taking any chances of being left behind today. He has been watching us trapsing back and forth for many days and today he wasn't having it. He must have jumped into the van everytime I took a load out. I am trying to divest the little area at the top of the basement stairs of all my sewing and knitting stuff...a feat all on its own. But slowly, today I made progress and one can nearly see the shelves!
We need the area cleaned out because we want to move the freezer up and out of the basement. I bought some of that appliance spray paint and plan to spruce the freezer and the fridge up before we install them up at the new place. It is getting funny because everything I pick out, from the windows to this paint has been called "biscuit." So now when I have to make a choice about say...the kitchen cabinet,s what do I find...but "biscuit!" So I guess that's my new color!
We've looked over the packs of slate that we purchased to tile the bathroom floor with and found it to be pretty uneven and "crevicy" making it a possible difficult medium to clean. I like to mop out the floor fairly often and I think the "swiffer" won't be able to manage it. So we switched back to a laminate flooring in the bathroom. Scott will install it on Saturday. Then we will put the slate in the little area that will basically be the back hallway (about 4x8') and again in by the front door to protect the laminate we have planned for the living room area. That spot will be larger...more like 4x12' or so.
Anyone that would like to donate time an energy to lay said flooring can volunteer anytime this week...I'm still waiting...
The plumber is also due next week to finish up and install the boiler and the remainder of the waterworks. Then we will really be able to move in earnest.
Our helpers, Ben & Ike, seem to be on strike. They haven't given Dad any hours for several days now. Their excuses run the gambit from babysitting to hauling gravel for another project. Sydney Tanner, John Songs and several others have also been trying to hire them for pay and have run into the same thing! So we guess that they have suddenly become independently wealthy!! Grrrrrrrr....
So Dad has been trying to do things alone and has been getting pretty run down.
Poor baby. All in all, we've made wonderful progress and I should be blogging from my new digs in a few weeks!

THE BIRTHDAY GIRL ROCKS THE DOCK...
But the day was wonderfully sunny and warm, but not too hot, clear blue skies and good spirits.
There was abundant food, good people, well-behaved children, and lots of love for all!!!
